As practice shows, many naively believe that electric cars are the future of humanity precisely from the point of view of a reverent attitude to the ecology of the environment. However, it is important to understand that they certainly differ in certain advantages in this direction.
Electric motors keep the air fresh
An important environmental difference of electric vehicles is the actual absence of an exhaust system, without which the internal combustion engine cannot exist. There is neither the roar of the engine coming from the muffler, nor this element itself in the lower part of the rear of the body. The more electric cars replace traditional fossil fuel cars, the cleaner the air in cities becomes. According to statistics from the UK Transport Department in 2019, about 27% of harmful air emissions in the country were generated by gasoline and diesel vehicles. Apparently, the situation in other countries is no less positive, so switching to electric cars seems to be a way out of the situation.
CO₂ emissions are being systematically reduced
co₂ or carbon dioxide is an insidious chemical compound that has been systematically accumulating in the atmosphere of our planet since the beginning of the industrial era. In the early stages of the planet's existence, this substance was a dominant encircling the planet. However, as photosynthesis progressed, its share gradually decreased from several dozen to 0.04%. Universal motorization, coupled with deforestation, has reversed this process for several years in a row. Despite all the accompanying nuances, CO₂ emissions from electric motors are still lower. But they do not equal zero, what else will be discussed further in the text.
Less solid dirt from pads
It is for the sake of environmental friendliness that drum brakes are used in some electric cars. This, for example, concerns a potentially mass-produced Volkswagen ID model.3. Unlike an open disk system, this system is assembled in a limited space, which effectively collects its waste products. As a result, the particles of worn brake pads, which do not contain anything good for the environment, do not remain on the streets of the city, as well as highways. However, in this case, the effectiveness of stopping the vehicle, which helps to save lives, still comes first. When choosing an electric car, this should be taken into account initially.
Finishing materials are recycled
The trend towards environmental friendliness forces manufacturers of electric cars, among other things, to reconsider the materials that are used in the interior of the body. This applies to seats, door cards and the dashboard — they try to make it as environmentally friendly as possible, to make it from recycled materials or raw materials suitable for further processing. The same BMW emphasizes that about 95% of the components of the i3 model can be reused. At the same time, the electric car is manufactured with minimal use of raw materials obtained from renewable, not fossil sources.
