Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to create its own network of charging stations for electric cars, which will include more than 10 thousand points. They will be placed in the main markets, starting with North America. At the same time, owners of electric cars of other brands will be able to charge batteries at Mercedes-Benz stations.
- Mercedes-Benz will place from 4 to 30 charging points with a capacity of up to 350 kW on each hub. An intelligent station management system will optimally distribute the load, which will minimize the charging time of each specific electric car.
- The company promises to equip the hubs with rain protection, food outlets, toilets and video surveillance systems. It is planned to place them in the zones of attraction — near transport arteries, shopping and service centers, as well as dealerships of the brand.
- Mercedes-Benz plans to offer intangible advantages to its own customers: in particular, owners of electric cars of the German company will have the opportunity to book access to the charging port for a specific time.
- The deployment of a network of charging stations will begin this year from North America: at the first stage, Mercedes-Benz plans to build more than 400 hubs with 2.5 thousand chargers in the period up to 2027. The company's plans also envisage the appearance of stations in Europe, China and other regions of the planet. Mercedes-Benz expects to complete the deployment before the end of the decade, when it plans to abandon the internal combustion engine in those countries where market conditions allow.
The nearest battery novelty of the German company should be the first electric car of the Maybach sub-brand. The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV crossover will be turned into a luxury electric car.
